About Seatrade

Seatrade is one of the largest and most experienced shipping companies in the Netherlands. Our technical teams in Groningen are responsible for safe and effective ship management, whereas our commercial teams in Breda handle all commercial matters. Seatrade is specialised in the transport of perishable cargo such as fruit (bananas, citrus, grapes, lychees), meat and fish. Transporting these types of goods brings unique challenges in terms of sustainable energy management and the related fuel consumption.

Seatrade takes these challenges very seriously. In order to face them, a new department was founded in 2023: the Energy Desk. Its task is to ensure fleetwide cost effective and sustainable energy management. Achieving this will not only have a positive impact on the environment but it will also help to improve our financial results. Currently, Seatrade is looking for a new enthusiastic working student to strengthen the Energy Desk team.

What you will do

  • Work as a member of the Energy Desk, supervised and assisted by the Energy Analytics Officer.
  • You will have a wide variety of responsibilities related to sustainable energy management such as:
    o Daily monitoring of the fleetwide fuel consumption data and its administration;
    o Reporting to legislative organisations, including the EU, UN, classification societies and flag states;
    o Assist with the development of models and strategies to analyse and improve vessel performance;
    o Educating and assisting our crew(s) on board our vessels with energy related matters;
    o Create regular sustainability and performance reports for internal and external use.
  • Work with both teams in Groningen (on-site) and the teams in Breda (online and occasionally on-site).
  • Engage actively to improve energy savings and sustainable awareness.
