1951

Five visionary Dutch captain/owners pool their coasters together into Scheepvaartkantoor Groningen.

1961

The pool welcomes its first fully refrigerated vessel (mv Arctic) and enters the international reefer market.

1973

A small fleet of 15 vessels services the international market and opts for a more international company name: tongue twister “Scheepvaartkantoor Groningen” is renamed Seatrade Groningen.

1989

With the acquisition of the fleet of Dammers & Van der Heide, the vessel pool becomes twice as large and a lot more diverse. Seatrade Groningen embarks on new trades and trade lines, including exotic fruit.

1993

Daily chartering and operations for all pool vessels are moved to the Antwerp-based office of Scaldis Reefer Chartering, Curaçao.

1998

The company is renamed Seatrade Reefer Chartering and boasts a pool of over 100 vessels.

2001

A joint venture with Nissui results in further expansion and the opening of new trade lanes.

2005

Acquisition of United Reefers extends the pool by some 15 vessels.

2007

Acquisition of the Maritima del Norte reefer fleet extends the Pool and adds another trade lane.

2008

The Pool enters into a slot chartering agreement with StreamLines, which acquired the container activities of the former Europe West Indies Line.

2010

Seatrade operates a fleet of around 130 vessels with a total cargo capacity well over 50 million cubic feet. Our comprehensive reefer service offering is second to none.
